Is Health Connect compatible with ROOK?

Yes. Since December 2023, Health Connect, Google's health data platform for Android devices, is compatible with ROOK. Every ROOK client gets access to Health Connect data as part of ROOK's integration, so health and insurance apps can read data from Android users without building a separate Health Connect integration. Google positions Health Connect as the successor to Google Fit for mobile apps.

Health Connect is Google's standard health data layer across Android devices, and Google recommends migrating from the Google Fit APIs to Health Connect for mobile-first apps. When this post was published in 2023, Google planned to discontinue the Google Fit API at the end of 2024.

All ROOK clients have access to the Health Connect integration as part of ROOK's effort to give them access to as many data sources as possible. ROOK now supports 72 data sources and more than 500 devices.

Health Connect support matters because of the number of people who use Android devices daily. Reading Health Connect data through ROOK lets a health or insurance app serve Android users and keeps the app aligned with Google's current health data platform.
